The Rolling Stones in the press: “New Stone, new single”
STONES SEPTEMBER TOUR, NEW SINGLE, TAYLOR SOLO The Rolling Stones will tour Britain in September; new member Mick Taylor told the NME this week. A full Continental and American tour is also likely. The Stones next single is a double A-side re-recorded without ex-group member Brian Jones. One side features a 60-strong chorale. Hyde Park is now almost certainly the venue for the Stones’ open-air free Concert on July 5, reported last week. Three albums by the group Will be released within the next five months — plus another LP to be recorded by Taylor as a solo performer! Revealing plans for the Rolling Stones autumn British tour, Mick Taylor said that Mick Jagger and the rest of the group were keen to return to live appearances and they had told him this before joining.
European dates would follow -“where we’ll probably get the screamers,” said Taylor, “but not in Britain ” and then further concerts the U.S. The Rolling Stones’ long-awaited single will be released by Decca on July 4 and will couple two Jagger-Richard compositions, “Honky Tonk Woman” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Thls last title uses acoustic guitar and horn and then the 60-strong chorale. Al Kooper is on organ and piano. The Stones have spent the past week rehearsing for their live appearances in Rome and London, reported last week. Following the London concert they will concentrate en other activities during the 10-week absence of Jagger in Australia for filming of “Ned Kelly”. Scheduled for July release by Decca is another “Big Hits ” album by the group, and this will be followed by a new and original LP in September. The third album will follow before Christmas. Taylor told the NME he would recording his own solo albums, and also hoped to have the first ready for release before the end of the year. new Stone
