From Martin Elliott’s book THE ROLLING STONES COMPLETE RECORDING SESSIONS 1962-2012:
Another chance for Keith Richards to show his vocal talents. The DIRTY WORK sessions demonstrated the freshness and maturity of Keith’s songwriting approach. A very early acoustic guitar version with incomplete lyrics was recorded in Paris. By the time the song had evolved to New York, it had been transformed into a very worthwhile Keith number. His lectric lead guitar was also in fine form. You’re Too Much uses a gathering of backing vocalists who perform the song in gospel style. It would also be tried again on Sleep Tonight.
