TODAY IN ROLLING STONES’ HISTORY: December 31

Dec. 31, 1963: Drill Hall, Lincoln, England. This was the only time in history the Stones played on New Year’s Eve.

Dec. 31, 1965: The Stones appear on ‘Ready Steady Go! The New Year Starts Here’ (Associated-Rediffusion, British TV) playing Satisfaction and Get Off Of My Cloud, along with The Who, Dusty Springfield, The Animals, The Kinks, Lulu and Tom Jones. The footage from the show is lost.

Dec. 31, 1970: At Ronnie Scott’s club, in London, Charlie attends Ringo Starr’s New Year’s Eve party, where they jam with Eric Clapton, Klaus Voormann, Bobby Keys, Georgie Fame and Maurice Gibb.

Dec. 31, 1992: Keith & the X-Pensive Winos perform at The Academy in New York City. Some footage of the show is broadcast live on U.S. TV as part of the Hard Rock Café New Year’s Special.
