Dec. 12, 1967: Brian appears in court to appeal against his nine-month sentence imposed after being found guilt on drug charges. On bail, he made his appeal in the court of the Lord Chief Justice. Brian was sentenced for possessing cannabis and allowing his flat to be used for cannabis smoking. He was given a 3-year probation plus a £1,000 fine for drug charges after three psychiatrists agreed that he was a young man extremely frightened and with suicidal tendencies.

Dec. 12, 1985: Ian Stewart dies of a heart attack while while waiting to be examined for breathing difficulties at his doctor’s place in Harley Street, London. ‘Stu’ was the co-founder of the Stones along Brian after he first responded to Brian’s advertisement in Jazz News magazine looking for musicians to form a R&B group), but later dismissed from the Stones’ line-up by Andrew Loog Oldham, the band’s manager, in May 1963. Stu remained as road manager and piano player.

The Queen avoided personally giving Sir Mick Jagger his knighthood because she thought he was an inappropriate candidate for honour, it has been claimed. “The thing about honors is that you should never ask for them, and you should never really expect them, but I think you should accept them if they are given to you”, he said. Keith hated it: “I don’t want to step out onstage with someone wearing a coronet and sporting the old ermine”.
Dec. 12, 2012: The Stones (doing You Got Me Rocking” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”),The Who, Bon Jovi, Eddie Vedder, Michael Stipe, Chris Martin, Bruce Springsteen and Roger Waters, among others, played at Madison Square Garden and raised over $30 million at a benefit gig in New York for those affected by superstorm Sandy which had hit the Caribbean and US in October of that year.
