Feb. 20, 1988: Bill Wyman organizes a benefit concert (“The A.I.M.S. Gala”) for the Great Ormond Street Hospital at the Royal Albert Hall in London with an all star band including Ronnie Wood, Ian Dury, Eddy Grant, Terence Trent D’Arby, Chrissie Hynde, Phil Collins, Chris Rea, Kenney Jones. Ray Cooper, Simon Kirke, and others. The show was later released on both VHS video and DVD. This after Bill formed A.I.M.S. (Ambitions, Ideas, Motivation, Success) as a project to give up and coming bands a chance to record and perform along with some of the recording artists of the time. To select the most deserving bands, he held a Europe wide ‘Battle Of The Bands’ series, the finalists from which were invited to play at the Royal Albert Hall at the AIMS Gala.
