Feb. 4, 1966: Release of the 19th NERVOUS BREAKDOWN / AS TEARS GO BY 7″ single in the UK (Decca F 12331)
The single reached No. 2 on both the US and UK charts, and was the fifth best-selling single of 1966 in the UK.
Mick on the song (1966): “I get inspiration from things that are happening around me, everyday life as I see it. People say I’m always singing about pills and breakdowns, therefore I must be an addict. This is ridiculous. Some people are so narrow-minded they won’t admit to themselves that this really does happen to other people beside pop stars.”

Feb. 4, 1970: A business meeting representing Stones concludes the band must leave England for France in 1971 to avoid the heavy British taxes. The rest is history.
