Rolling Stones unreleased: Your Angel Steps Out of Heaven

Written by: Jack Ripley
Recorded: RCA Studios, Hollywood, USA, Aug-Sept. 1978
Guest musicians: Ian McLagan (organ)

From Martin Elliott’s book THE ROLLING STONES COMPLETE RECORDING SESSIONS 1962-2012:
Jack Ripley the songwriter was for many a year a co-hort of George Jones who recorded this track as later did Elvis Costello. It had come to Keith Richards’ attention from Gram Parsons, who did a version with The Flying Burrito Brothers. Ronnie Wood plays pedal steel and Keith not only does the vocals (and oversubbed backing vocals) but probably the piano as well. Ian McLagan plays a very slow organ.
