The Rolling Stones’ 1981 American Tour was a massive run across U.S. stadiums, promoting Tattoo You and smashing ticket records. Jagger wasn’t into touring at first, but Keith and Ronnie pushed until he gave in. With wild crowds, a bright, oversized stage, surprise guests, and even Prince getting booed off early on, the tour became a huge money-maker. It also kicked off big-brand sponsorships in rock and even featured the first pay-per-view concert broadcast.

The 1994 Voodoo Lounge Tour put the Stones back on the world stage, marking their first trek without Bill Wyman and the debut of Darryl Jones on bass. The tour raked in massive money, drawing 6.5 million fans and briefly becoming the highest-grossing tour ever. Critics who said the band was done were quickly silenced once they hit the stage. With bold production and slick visuals, the Stones proved they still had plenty of fire.
