Today in Rolling Stones history: February 20
*Click for DAILY ROLLING STONES CHRONOLOGY 1962-present
February 20 traces a fascinating arc through Rolling Stones history, from sweaty pub beginnings to stadium-sized spectacle. In 1963 at the Red Lion in Sutton, they were still a hungry R&B outfit chasing a dream. A year later, they were storming British theaters. By 1973 in Adelaide their songs roared across Australia, proving the band had become a global force. Offstage, Bill Wyman’s 1988 A.I.M.S. Gala showed their philanthropic reach. Fast forward to Sydney 2003 and Rio’s Maracanã in 2016—massive crowds, timeless setlists. This February 20 chronology captures the Rolling Stones’ evolution in one unforgettable date.
