March 27, 1964: Ex-Serviceman’s Club, Windsor, England

March 27, 1964: Later that day Mick, Keith and Andrew Oldham attend a Decca party at the Ex-Serviceman’s Club for the launch of a record of Oldham’s protégé singer Adrienne Posta, whose debut single Shang-A-Doo-Lang (penned by Jagger/Richard) was being released. Also at the party was 17 year-old Marianne Faithfull with her boyfriend John Dunbar, making this the first time Mick and Marianne met.

Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull’s relationship was one of the wildest and most iconic love stories of the ‘60s. After that first time in 1964, they met in again 1966, when Marianne was already a rising singer and actress, and quickly became the ultimate rock’n’roll couple—beautiful, rebellious, and always in the headlines. Their time together was full of passion, creativity, but also plenty of chaos. They lived fast, surrounded by fame, parties, and the madness of the Swinging London scene. Marianne became much more than “Mick’s girlfriend”—she inspired songs like You Can’t Always Get What You Want and was part of the Stones’ inner circle. But the relationship also spiraled into drug use, heartbreak, and scandal, especially after their infamous 1967 police bust. By 1970, it was over, but their story still feels legendary—two young, magnetic icons tangled in love, fame, and the dark side of rock history.
