When Mick Jagger married Bianca Jagger in St. Tropez, it wasn’t just a wedding—it was a full-blown rock ’n’ roll spectacle. What was meant to be intimate quickly turned into a paparazzi frenzy, with fans, celebrities, and music legends descending on the French coast. From private jets packed with stars to a ceremony blending elegance and chaos, the event captured the excess and allure of the era. Yet beneath the glamour, there was a hint of unpredictability. Their story, as dazzling as it began, would later unravel—making this iconic union as fleeting as it was unforgettable.
On May 12 1971 Mick married Nicaraguan-born social and human rights advocate and former actress Bianca Jagger (Bianca Pérez-Mora Macías) at St. Anne’s Church, in St. Tropez, France. The Roman Catholic ceremony included guests like the other members of the Stones, Brigitte Bardot, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Peter Frampton, Bobby Keys, Ronnie Wood and Stephen Stills. They finally split in 1977.

Mick and Bianca Jagger: A Glamorous and Paparazzi-Filled Wedding
A large number of fans and paparazzi found out about their plans. For the famous couple, it was also impossible to keep photographers at bay. Even Mick’s father once lamented to a reporter, “I hope my second son never becomes a superstar”. Oh yes, that’s how things were like. They could have been married for only seven years but, at least showbiz-like, it’s still one of the most oft-mentioned all-time marriages. That’s when Mick Jagger (27 at the time) tied the knot with his his 26-year-old Nicaraguan girlfriend Bianca.
Mick and Bianca Jagger’s marriage remains one of the most iconic (and oft-mentioned) marriages of all time. The then 27-year-old Rolling Stones singer and his 26-year-old Nicaraguan girlfriend wanted to have an intimate ceremony in the beach town of St. Tropez, France. Add to that the groom had arranged for a private jet to transport 75 of his friends from London, which included rock stars like Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton and Ronnie Wood, plus celebrities like Brigitte Bardot, Julie Christie and Stones’ partner-in-crime Keith Richards (all of the latter celebrating the wedding with the newlyweds at a post-wedding party at the Byblos Hotel)
A wedding, a party, and a short-lived fairytale
Later on, while a reggae band provided the music and Mick took to the stage to perform a set with Stephen Stills and Terry Reid, the bride walked to the altar of St. Anne’s Chapel while listening to songs from the movie Love Story played on the harmonium. After being declared husband and wife by a Roman Catholic priest, the couple eloped to Mick’s Bentley at Café des Arts, where all guests were treated to a champagne and caviar reception. And they lived happily ever after (although for only 7 years…) They ended up divorcing in 1978 (according to The Times of London newspaper, on the very morning of their wedding, Jagger asked his new wife to sign a document relinquishing her claim to his assets in the event of a divorce)
