In 1964, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were the only Rolling Stones present for a medley of tracks recorded at Lane Lea Studios. This mysterious session has sparked much speculation, especially since the songs were later auctioned in 2016 on an IBC-reel. While it’s often assumed these tracks were recorded at IBC Studios, it’s not certain. It’s possible they could have come from another session held between March and May 1964, as the timing and the band’s schedule during that period remain somewhat unclear.

Despite the uncertainty about the exact location and date, the medley itself showcases the raw energy and unique chemistry that Mick and Keith shared during their early years. The duo, in collaboration with the rest of the band, were experimenting with different sounds, blending blues and rock in a way that would come to define their career. These unreleased tracks, though mostly elusive to the public until their auction, represent a fascinating moment in the Stones’ evolution.

The auction of the IBC-reel tracks in 2016 gave fans a rare glimpse into this period, offering new insight into the early recording processes of one of rock’s most iconic bands. The medley stands as a reminder of the Stones’ constant creative drive during their formative years. Do we want more? Yes we do!
