The Rolling Stones’ 1973 concert in Perth, Australia, was part of their Pacific tour introducing the Goats Head Soup album to the masses, a legendary stop on a global run that saw the band at the peak of their rock ‘n’ roll powers. Although there’s no official audio from this show, some rare silent footage has surfaced over the years, offering a unique glimpse into what went down during that performance. The footage, while silent, speaks volumes about the energy and atmosphere that filled the arena that night.
On stage, Mick Jagger is his usual charismatic self, strutting and spinning across the stage in his signature style, hyping the crowd with his presence. Keith Richards and Mick Taylor deliver some serious guitar work, with their riffs blending perfectly. Keith’s effortlessly cool vibe and Mick Taylor’s emotional playing made for a dynamic duo that evening. Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman held it all together in the rhythm section, steady as ever and giving the band the perfect foundation to rock hard.
This show in Perth was particularly special as it marked one of the Stones’ first ever performances in Australia. The Goats Head Soup album, which was full of experimentation and a shift in sound for the band, was front and center on this tour. The songs from the album mixed seamlessly with the classic hits, giving fans a full taste of what the Stones were about at that time.
Though the footage doesn’t have sound, it still captures the raw intensity and swagger of the band. It’s an incredible piece of history, showcasing the Rolling Stones’ legendary live performances during one of their most iconic tours. Even without audio, it’s clear that the energy was off the charts!
