Keith Richards Rocks the Orpheum – Boston, February ’93

On February 13, 1993 Keith Richards brought his unstoppable rock ‘n’ roll swagger to the Orpheum Theatre in Boston as part of his Main Offender tour. Backed by the X-Pensive Winos, Keith was in full command of the stage, delivering a raw, soulful performance that proved he was just as powerful solo as he was with the Stones. The Orpheum, with its classic, intimate vibe, gave the show a gritty closeness that fans still talk about to this day. Wicked as It Seems, 999 and Eileen thundered through the venue with attitude, groove, and a touch of that signature Richards cool.

The setlist mixed Main Offender material with a few Stones surprises, and the crowd was all in—shouting, dancing, and loving every second of it. It was one of those shows where you could feel the energy crackle in the air. Keith wasn’t just performing—he was living it.

X-Pensive Winos on Fire and Keith in Top Form

With Steve Jordan driving the rhythm, Waddy Wachtel ripping guitar solos, and the rest of the Winos locked in tight, the band was a machine. Keith was clearly having fun—grinning, strutting, and sharing moments with the crowd like it was a private party. His raspy vocals, unpolished and real, gave the songs extra edge. Highlights included a bluesy take on Before They Make Me Run and an emotional Hate It When You Leave. Boston got a front-row seat to something special that night—not just a rock concert, but a pure shot of Keith Richards doing what he does best: playing from the heart and tearing the house down with nothing but a Telecaster and a sneer. Classic Keith.
