Mick Jagger Goes Solo at Webster Hall in 1993
On February 9, 199, Mick Jagger stepped onto the modest stage of Webster Hall in New York City to deliver a solo performance. But let’s be real—Mick without The Rolling Stones is like tea without sugar: still there, but missing the kick. He tackled Live With Me, a Stones classic (as well as more Stones classics), with just a few musicians backing him up in this intimate venue. No giant arena, no pyrotechnics, just Mick and his unmistakable swagger doing their thing. It was raw, a bit rough around the edges, but totally Mick. Fans lucky enough to be there witnessed a stripped-down version of the rockstar—less spectacle, more substance.
Small Stage, Big Attitude
This wasn’t your typical stadium blowout. It was more like Mick saying, “Hey, I don’t always need the whole circus.” His voice had that gritty charm only decades of rock ‘n’ roll can give, and the performance oozed personality. Live With Me (originally recorded by the Stones for the Let It Bleed album, 1969) here feels less rehearsed and more alive, with all the unpredictability that makes watching Mick, well, watching Mick. Webster Hall 1993 might not headline greatest gigs ever, but it’s a cool little nugget showing Mick’s star power doesn’t totally depend on giant crowds or flashy production. Sometimes, less is more—even when it’s the legendary Mick Jagger.
