About Pat Andrews, mother of Brian Jones’ second child Julian

Behind the mythology of The Rolling Stones and Brian Jones lies a story that doesn’t fit the rock fantasy quite so neatly. Pat Andrews, often reduced to a footnote, was part of a reality far removed from fame—one shaped by early responsibility, unstable relationships, and a future that didn’t come with backstage passes. Their son Julian Mark Andrews became one of the most visible reminders that the band’s rise wasn’t just about music, but consequences too. It’s the kind of story rock history tends to sidestep—less glamorous, more human, and arguably far more revealing about the cost of becoming Brian Jones.
A Cheltenham girlfriend of Brian Jones, in October 1961, at the age of 16, Pat gave birth to Brian’s second child. As history has it the Stones’ guitarist sold his records to buy her flowers in the hospital. Before that, during Pat’s pregnancy, she and Brian lived at her sister’s home, but soon Brian moved to London. On Easter Sunday, 1962, th couple’s new son Julian Mark Andrews, (named after the great jazz musician Julian ‘Cannonball’ Adderley, who Brian idolized) joined him in London, where she worked in a laundry, while Brian wandered from job to job. Pat and Brian’s relationship ended when, rumor had it, no other than Mick began a brief affair with Ms. Andrews after trying to seduce her at the Edith Grove flat the boys shared at the time.

Pat Andrews and Brian Jones’ Son Julian
Pat Andrews was the mother of Julian Mark Andrews, the second child of Brian Jones, founding member of The Rolling Stones. She and Brian met in the early 1960s before the band reached international fame. Though their relationship didn’t last, it resulted in the birth of Julian in 1964. Pat raised Julian largely on her own, as Brian’s lifestyle became more chaotic with the rise of the Stones. Still, she remained a significant figure in the early Stones circle and helped preserve the legacy of Brian as a father.
So How Many Children Did Brian Jones Have?
Brian Jones is believed to have fathered at least five children with different women during his short life. These included Julian with Pat Andrews, and other children born from brief relationships. Due to the era and Brian’s wild lifestyle, not all his paternity cases were fully acknowledged or documented. However, Julian remained one of the best-known, as his mother had a deeper connection to Brian during his formative musical years.
