Nov. 19, 1993: Release of the JUMP BACK: THE BEST OF THE ROLLING STONES ’71-’93 compilation (Virgin 7243 8 39321 2 2)
JUMP BACK: THE BEST OF THE ROLLING STONES ’71-’93 was the sixth official compilation album by the Stones. Originally released worldwide, the American release came actually out on Aug. 24 2004. It’s also the first Stones compilation which was packaged in the compact disc era, covering the band’s career from 1971’s Sticky Fingers to at the time most recent studio album Steel Wheels, released in 1989. It was also the Stones’ first release under their contract with Virgin Records, signed in November 1993, at the same time Voodoo Lounge was being recorded. The album artwork was designed by Bill Smith, with an inner sleeve collage designed by Len Peltier. JUMP BACK was remastered and reissued by Universal Music in 2009, with the album version of “Miss You” being included in place of the single version, as originally published.
