The Rolling Stones and A Night at Waldbühne

On June 10, 2014, The Rolling Stones brought their 14 On Fire tour to Berlin’s historic Waldbühne—and delivered a show that instantly became one for the books. This wasn’t just any gig; it marked the band’s first appearance at the legendary open-air amphitheater since 1965. Nearly 50 years later, the Stones returned not just as survivors, but as masters of the stage, commanding a sold-out crowd of over 20,000 fans with raw energy and timeless swagger.

Opening with the ever-reliable punch of Start Me Up, the band wasted no time reminding Berlin why they’re still the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band. The night was heavy on classics, but also featured a few welcome surprises. A fan vote brought out Get Off of My Cloud and Doom and Gloom proved Jagger’s still got the vocal firepower and moves to match.

Still on Fire After All These Years

There was a sense of history in the air, but this was no nostalgia act. Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood traded guitar licks with joyful abandon, while Charlie Watts anchored the chaos with his usual calm brilliance. Jagger, ever the showman, worked the crowd with cheeky German phrases and endless charisma.

The Waldbühne, with its Roman-style architecture and forest backdrop, added an extra layer of magic. And when the Stones closed the night with (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, the entire venue erupted in a communal roar. It was more than just a concert—it was a celebration of longevity, legacy, and the undying spirit of rock ’n’ roll. The Rolling Stones didn’t just return to Berlin—they owned it, yet again.
