From Counting to Fire: The Stones Keep Rolling

When The Rolling Stones hit the road with 14 On Fire in 2014, they weren’t just doing another tour—they were keeping the fire alive from their massive 50 & Counting celebration. Kicking things off on February 21 in Abu Dhabi, this new leg picked up where the previous one left off, offering fans more of what they loved: classic hits, high energy, and rock ‘n’ roll swagger.

Much like the seamless transition from the Steel Wheels Tour in 1989 to the Urban Jungle Tour in 1990, 14 On Fire followed the same blueprint as its predecessor. The stage design remained iconic, with towering visuals and elaborate lighting. Setlists were structured similarly, blending Stones staples with a few deep cuts and surprises. Even the band’s wardrobe and tour merchandise stuck with the familiar, creating a sense of continuity for fans across the globe.

Mick Taylor Returns and Adds Firepower

A key highlight of both tours was the presence of former guitarist Mick Taylor, who joined the band once again as a special guest. His signature sound added a nostalgic punch to songs like Midnight Rambler, much to the delight of longtime fans. His participation helped bridge the Stones’ rich musical history with their enduring present.

14 On Fire wasn’t about reinventing the wheel—it was about celebrating the band’s legacy with consistency and style. The tour proved that The Rolling Stones still knew how to ignite stadiums night after night, feeding off the energy of the crowd and each other. With 14 On Fire, the Stones didn’t just revisit their past—they reignited it.
