Today in Rolling Stones history: June 16
*Click for DAILY ROLLING STONES CHRONOLOGY 1962-present
June 16 has a funny habit of turning into a full-blown Rolling Stones time machine. One date, multiple decades, and suddenly you’ve got everything from smoky London jazz-era beginnings to stadium-level chaos in Vienna. By 1969, The Rolling Stones were already bending TV studios into something halfway between performance art and controlled noise, casually tapinYou Can’t Always Get What You Want and Honky Tonk Women for The David Frost Show like it was just another day at the office. Fast forward through Denver, Munich, Lyon, Madrid, Paris, and beyond, and it’s the same story with different levels of volume: sweat, swagger, and setlists that refuse to behave. Somewhere in there, Start Me Up and the Tattoo You era lock in their stadium identity, proving this band never really did “quiet reflection,” just louder versions of everything.
