According to an article published today in Italian newspaper La Nazione (from Florence)…

The wonders of Florence and its hills continue to seduce visitors from all over the world, including some well-known and famous faces, known by everyone, young and old.

The “left bank” is full of fashionable clubs, frequented every day and every evening by people of all ages, settled in the historic center which blends with luxury. It may happen that you come across two rock icons such as Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, the Rolling Stones, in any restaurant in the area, sitting nonchalantly at the table next to yours.

It happened a few evenings ago at the Il Cestello restaurant, in the small square of the same name overlooking the Lungarno. They were there apparently for dinner. According to rumors, the two stars had been in Florence for about ten days with their entire entourage made up of sound technicians, producers, service and security personnel, busy creating some songs for a new musical project. The musicians were barricaded, closed, away from prying eyes in Daniele Cavalli’s Heavy Soul Darling recording and production studio (in Villa Cavalli). Paul McCartney also appears to have made a brief appearance.

However, departure is scheduled for today. Their musical tour will begin soon. It’s not the first time the Rolling Stones have passed through these parts. Also in 2017, on the occasion of a concert in Lucca, the band decided to stay in the historic center of Florence.

The frontman is “especially at home” in Florence and has been thinking about moving to Tuscany with his family for years, the perfect retreat for a few months a year, also to work on writing new songs. After all, with Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts, Jagger already recorded the hit “Living in a Ghost Town” a few years ago.

The leader of the Rolling Stones is not the first personality from the world of entertainment to give in to the lure of the Florentine Oltrarno. Let’s not forget that between 1999 and 2000 the well-known Irish actor Daniel Day Lewis also spent 10 months working as a cobbler, for free, in the workshop of Stefano Bemer, the shoemaker known throughout the world for his wonderful tailor-made shoes , which is considered a luxury: for a pair of shoes it starts from 500 euros.
