Keith Richards on having brain surgery (2007): “All in all, the experience was quite interesting. I can never forget my voice echoing round the room in New Zealand. The doctor that was taking care of me said, ‘Well, I think you’re ready to fly to London or Manhattan for your operation’. I said, ‘I ain’t going nowhere, motherfucker, YOU’RE doing it’. And as I said it, I heard the words floating round, like, ‘Did I actually say that?’ ‘You’re gonna break my head open, pal’. It’s something you don’t want to contemplate really.“
