About The Rolling Stones Licks Tour
The Stones hit the road for their 40th anniversary! In 2002 and 2003, The Rolling Stones celebrated their 40th anniversary with a massive world tour called the Licks World Tour. The tour played a mix of intimate theaters, large arenas, and huge stadiums, just like they always have. Since this time they didn’t have a new album to promote, they kept things exciting by playing a ton of different songs from a catalog of 80 that were rehearsed for the tour.
The stage design was a collaboration between the band members and some big names, featuring a giant digital artwork. There was even a wild animated video during one song!
Unfortunately, some planned shows in Asia had to be canceled due to an outbreak of SARS. But the Stones still made it a point to help Toronto recover from the same issue by headlining a huge benefit concert there. They also finally played their first-ever shows in Hong Kong to wrap up the tour. The whole thing was sponsored by E-Trade.
The tour comprised a total of 117 starting on September 3 2002 at the FleetCenter, Boston, and wrapping up up on November 2 2003 at the Tamar Festival Site, in Hong Kong.
