Oh, you know, just a casual moment when two of the biggest names in rock history—The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan—decide to hang out and jam together. It was 1998, and during their tour, the Stones invited Dylan to join them on stage for a performance of Like a Rolling Stone in Rio. No big deal, right? I mean, it’s only one of the most iconic songs in music history, and they’re just casually throwing it down like it’s no more than a jam session in the garage.
The crowd in Rio went absolutely wild, as you can imagine, seeing the two legends side by side. Keith Richards and Mick Jagger rocking out on stage with Dylan, who was still in his prime, was like seeing an unstoppable force meet an immovable object—if that object was a wild, free-spirited energy of music history.
But, of course, it wasn’t just in Rio. The pair also got together in other cities, like Montpellier in 1995 (the very first time they did it together onstage) and then in Buenos Aires a few days the Rio show. You could almost hear the collective gasps as the crowd realized what was happening. Can you imagine being in those audiences? One moment, you’re seeing The Rolling Stones, and the next, Bob Dylan walks onstage. It’s like the ultimate rock ‘n’ roll crossover event. The dynamic between them was electric, with Mick taking lead on vocals and Bob throwing in his own unique vibe—never mind the fact they were just casually changing the game every time they shared a mic. I mean, they just don’t make “casual” like that anymore.
