The NME Poll Winners Concert 1965 was a landmark event in British rock history, held at the Empire Pool in Wembley on April 11th. Organized by New Musical Express magazine, the concert celebrated the most popular acts in pop and rock music as voted by the magazine’s readers. The lineup was nothing short of legendary, featuring performances by The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Kinks, The Animals, Dusty Springfield, and many others. What set this event apart was its unique blend of pop culture and raw rock energy, capturing the spirit of the British Invasion at its peak. The Rolling Stones delivered a high-octane set that closed with The Last Time, while The Beatles closed the show with signature charisma. Although the BBC filmed parts of the show, only some footage has survived. The concert remains a defining moment in 1960s UK music history and fan culture.
