Rolling Stones On Video: “Sexist and racist” remark by Mick Jagger in 1978 interview
A bold remark from Mick in 1978, when he replied to the controversy surrounding the just-released Some Girls album (with many reviews referring to it as “chauvinistic”, among other critics), saying it “stinks”, even warning the Stones’ next project will be “even more racist and sexist” This remark was seen as a reflection of the wider issues of sexism and objectification that were common in the music industry and society at the time.
Although Jagger later apologized and expressed remorse, the incident is still a notable example of how gender issues and inappropriate comments have been, and continue to be, important topics of discussion concerning public figures and their impact.
