May 17, 1975: While attempting to break his fall, Mick accidentally smashes his hand through a window in Montauk restaurant, in Long Island, New York, which then required twenty stitches on his wrist, but the Stones’ North American tour still proceeded in 2 weeks, as planned.

The Rolling Stones’ 1975 rehearsals for their Tour of the Americas were anything but typical. Instead of a cramped studio, they chose the upscale setting of Montauk, New York. True to their larger-than-life persona, the band invited none other than Andy Warhol to add his unique artistic flair to the scene. Warhol, ever the visual chronicler, documented the wild energy with his signature photography. As Mick Jagger and the crew ran through songs—likely with drinks in hand—the rehearsals took on the feel of a surreal performance piece rather than traditional practice. It was pure Stones: style, spectacle, and Warholian cool.
