Mick Jagger and Keith Richards leaving court, 1967 (rare footage)
June 29, 1967: Mick Jagger and art dealer Robert Fraser are brought once again to Chichester Crown Court as the trial of Keith Richards continues. After the prosecution concludes its arguments, the jury deliberates and finds Keith guilty on drug-related charges. He immediately files an appeal, but the court sentences him to 12 months in prison and a monetary fine. Robert Fraser receives a six-month prison sentence along with a fine, while Mick is given a three-month sentence and fined as well. Following the court’s decision, the three men are sent to serve their time in different facilities. Mick Jagger is taken to Brixton Prison in south London, a facility known for holding high-profile inmates, while Keith Richards and Robert Fraser are both transferred to Wormwood Scrubs, a well-known prison in west London. The verdict sends shockwaves through Britain, drawing intense public and media attention, and sparking debate over celebrity treatment and justice.
