Today in Rolling Stones history: June 29

Whether it’s the chaotic 1967 Redlands trial or a scorching 1975 set in Philadelphia, June 29 remains a weirdly pivotal date in The Rolling Stones’ timeline. From Swedish stages in ’65 to the muddy fields of Glastonbury in 2013, the band spent decades turning legal nightmares and public hysteria into sheer rock-and-roll fuel. While the establishment tried to bury them in prison cells, the Stones just kept showing up—whether in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, or Toronto—to prove that their brand of stubborn resilience is the only thing that actually matters when the curtain goes up on another global stage.

He appeals the decision and then he’s sentenced to 12 months in prison, plus a fine. While Robert Fraser is ordered 6 months in prison and a fine, and 3 months and a fine for Mick. Mick Jagger is brought to Brixton prison, and Keith and Robert Fraser to Wormwood Scrubs, both in London.
Keith (in court, asked if he was embarrassed and found it normal that there was “a young woman wearing only a rug” during the police search in Redlands): “Not at all…We are not old men. We’re not worried about petty morals.”
Mick, about the the trial: “I was deathly scared during the trial. I was much more frightened than Keith. I broke into tears when they said we had to go to jail. I’m like that…”
