The Rolling Stones in the press: “Jagger Talks On Touring”

The Rolling Stones’ 1975 Tour of the Americas wasn’t just a rock tour—it was a chaotic, inflatable-filled circus, and we loved every second of it. Kicking things off in the most “Stones” way imaginable, they decided to promote the tour by performing on a flatbed truck cruising down Fifth Avenue. Because, you know, why bother with a regular stage when you can snarl traffic in Manhattan?
This was Ronnie Wood’s first big run as the band’s new guitarist, and he fit right in, like he’d been waiting his whole life to swap riffs with Keith Richards. The tour’s setlist was packed with many hits, plus a sneak peek at their Black and Blue album with tracks like Fingerprint File. And let’s not forget the stage theatrics—because nothing screams “subtle” like a giant inflatable phallus and Mick Jagger swinging over the crowd in a hydraulic cherry picker. It was more rock opera than concert, but hey, that’s the Stones for you.
Of course, Mick strutted around in his usual outrageous outfits, dripping charisma and sweat, while Keith looked like he’d just rolled out of bed (probably because he had). Meanwhile, Charlie Watts kept things grounded, smirking behind the drum kit, probably wondering how he ended up in a band with so many inflatables.
The chemistry between Ronnie and Keith was electric, and their guitar interplay added a fresh edge to the shows. By the end of the tour, Ronnie had fully earned his stripes—both literally and figuratively.
The 1975 tour was messy, excessive, and gloriously over-the-top, proving once again that when it comes to rock‘n’roll spectacle, no one does it better than the Rolling Stones. And they proved yet it once again.
