December 10, 1966: Release in the USA of Got Live If You Want It!, the Stones’ first live album ever (London PS 493) The label released the album to bridge the gap between studio records and boost the Stones’ growing U.S. momentum after their triumphant 1966 tour. Andrew Loog Oldham scrapped plans for a full Royal Albert Hall recording, instead compiling various live tapes and two studio tracks with added crowd noise, creating the band’s only Brian Jones–era live release.
