Today in Rolling Stones history: January 5
*Click for DAILY ROLLING STONES CHRONOLOGY 1962-present
January 5 threads quietly but decisively through the Rolling Stones’ long history, linking raw beginnings to seasoned mastery. From early gigs held together without a full lineup, to ballrooms, studios, and transatlantic recording rooms, the date captures the band constantly in flux. It’s a day of side projects and firsts—Bill Wyman stepping out as a producer and solo artist—alongside landmark moments like the final shaping of Some Girls. Even decades later, it reflects the Stones’ reach beyond music, into collaborations, charity, and unexpected legacies. January 5 shows how the Stones never stopped moving forward.
