July 18, 1938: Birth of Ian ‘Stu’ Stewart to Annie and John Stewart in Pittenweem, Fife, Scotland then raised in Sutton, Surrey, England. The future co-founder of The Rolling Stones would grow up to become the band’s indispensable pianist and road manager, always carrying his lifelong passion for piano and boogie-woogie.

July 18, 1964: Beat City Club, London, England

July 18, 1965: Gaumont Theatre, Bournemouth, England (2 shows)

July 18, 1972: Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are arrested for assaulting a photographer in Warwick, Rhode Island. Released on bail later that day, they rush to Boston, where their first concert is delayed by three hours before finally taking the stage.

Before reviews or chart positions mattered, The Rolling Stones’ Sex Drive stood out as one of the band’s boldest departures. Julien Temple’s playful 1991 video opens with Mick Jagger confessing his supposed obsession to Charlie Watts’ psychoanalyst, blending temptation, humor, and fantasy into a tongue-in-cheek exploration of the singer’s larger-than-life persona.
