The Stones Take America by Storm in 1966, and Jagger Phones Home While On Tour
In the summer of 1966, The Rolling Stones hit the road for a wild U.S. tour, running from June 24 to July 28. Just weeks before it kicked off, Mick Jagger was hospitalized for “nervous exhaustion,” but that didnโt stop the band from tearing through the States. Riding high on the success of Aftermath, they delivered electrifying performances, proving they were rockโs reigning rebels. Fans packed every venue, screaming nonstop as Jagger, Richards, and the gang brought their signature raw energy to the stage. This tour wasnโt just another string of showsโit was another step in The Stonesโ unstoppable rise to rock โnโ roll domination.
By 1966, The Rolling Stones were no strangers to the U.S., but this tour was something else. Kicking off in June, they hit cities from coast to coast, bringing their raw energy and rebellious swagger to packed venues. With a setlist packed with hits like Paint It Black, 19th Nervous Breakdown, and Satisfaction, the band had fans screaming from the moment they stepped on stage. Mick Jagger, ever the showman, prowled the stage with his signature moves, while Keith Richards and Brian Jones delivered electrifying guitar work.
Chaos, Screams, and Pure Rock โnโ Roll
This tour wasnโt just about the musicโit was absolute madness. The screaming crowds were deafening, sometimes drowning out the band completely. Security struggled to keep things under control as fans rushed the stage, desperate to get closer to their rock idols. The band had to be whisked away in armored trucks, escaping from arenas like they were fugitives. But through all the chaos, The Stones delivered night after night, proving why they were at the top of the rock โnโ roll game. The 1966 U.S. tour cemented their status as true rock legends, paving the way for even bigger things to come.
