Today in Rolling Stones history: April 19
*Click for DAILY ROLLING STONES CHRONOLOGY 1962-present
April 19 marks a surprisingly rich date in Rolling Stones history, tracing the band’s rise from early club gigs in England to major releases decades later. On this day, they moved through key moments like the London premiere of the star-packed T.A.M.I. Show, ambitious plans to redo Rock and Roll Circus, explosive live shows in Montreal and San Jose, and the 2019 arrival of Honk. It’s a snapshot of how the Stones constantly reinvented themselves—on stage, on film, and on record. Few bands can turn one calendar date into such a powerful timeline of rock evolution and lasting legacy.
April 19, 1963: Wooden Bridge Hotel, Guildford, England
April 19, 1965: Opening in London of the T.A.M.I. Show (Teen-Age Music International) movie, filmed at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium (under the title Teenage Command Performance) on October 28 and 29, 1964, and featuring the Stones, The Supremes, Four Tops, James Brown, The Beach Boys and Smokey Robinson & The Miracles

April 19, 1969: Unhappy with the original footage, The Rolling Stones reportedly planned to re-shoot their Rock and Roll Circus performance at the Coliseum in Rome in late June. The idea promised a dramatic new backdrop for the project, but in the end the proposed filming never took place, leaving the original material as it was.
