December 4, 1962: Ealing Jazz Club, London, England (without Bill and Charlie, and with Colin Golding on bass)

Dec. 4, 1963: The Baths, Doncaster, England

Dec. 4, 1965: Release of December’s Children (And Everybody’s), the Stones’ fifth American studio album (London PS 451)
SIDE A: 1. She Said Yeah/ 2. Talkin’ ‘Bout You/ 3. You Better Move On/ 4. Look What You’ve Done/ 5. The Singer Not The Song/ 6. Route 66 (live)
SIDE B: 1. Get Off Of My Cloud/ 2. I’m Free/ 3. As Tears Go By/ 4. Gotta Get Away/ 5. Blue Turns To Grey/ 6. I’m Moving On (live)

The album may have been stitched together from singles, stray U.K. tracks, outtakes, and even an old EP cut, but its chaotic origins only add to its charm. The Stones tore into Larry Williams’ She Said Yeah, unleashed a simmering Chuck Berry take on Talkin’ About You, and delivered fiery live shots of Route 66 and Hank Snow’s I’m Moving On. Yet the real story was the Jagger–Richards partnership finally hitting its stride. Songs like I’m Free and The Singer Not the Song proved they were no longer relying solely on covers—though their tender version of You Better Move On still stands among their finest. And of course, the era-defining hits Get Off of My Cloud and As Tears Go By sealed the deal.

December 4-19, 1971: The Stones (all minus Charlie Watts) hold overdubs and mixes for the Exile on Main St. album at Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles, also recording new tracks for the album. The Stones wrapped Exile on Main St. in Los Angeles, transforming their rough French recordings with the soaring vocals of Venetta Fields, Clydie King, and Shirley Matthews, adding grit, warmth, and irresistible groove.
