Today in Rolling Stones history: March 26
*Click for DAILY ROLLING STONES CHRONOLOGY 1962-present
March 26 traces a surprisingly wild path through The Rolling Stones history—one that mixes chaos, reinvention, and raw stage power. From early UK double bills in Kidderminster to a shocking onstage mishap involving Bill Wyman in Denmark, the date carries more than routine tour stops. It builds toward the now-legendary 1971 Marquee Club gig, a sweaty, stripped-back performance that captured the band in full transition mode. Add later releases, side projects, and global stadium shows, and March 26 becomes a snapshot of evolution—proof that the Stones never stood still for long.
March 26, 1964: Town Hall, Kidderminster, England (2 shows)

March 26, 1965: Fyens Forum, Odense, Denmark (2 shows)
This is the day Bill Wyman was rendered unconscious by a 220-volt electric shock as the Stones kicked off their first Scandinavian tour ever. He wasn’t the only band member to experience the jolt that day. While details are limited, the incident actually occurred during a rehearsal, not during the concert, as is sometimes mistakenly claimed.

March 26, 1966: Brabanthal, Den Bosch, Holland

March 26, 1971: Marquee Club, London, England
The Stones delivered a truly legendary show, the kind that feels even bigger in hindsight. This intimate gig had a charged, almost conspiratorial atmosphere, as if everyone in the room knew they were witnessing something special. It would end up being one of their final UK appearances before the band relocated to France, adding an extra layer of historical weight to the night. The set leaned heavily on material from Sticky Fingers, showcasing the band at their raw, blues-drenched peak—loose, dangerous, and completely in sync. There was no overproduction, no distractions—just pure, gritty rock ’n’ roll, driven by swagger and instinct. It’s the kind of performance that perfectly captures The Stones right on the edge of a major transition, still rooted in their blues origins but already pushing into a new chapter.
