September 26 keeps the Rolling Stones timeline unusually busy, jumping from early British theatre shows to Brian Jones facing court, European tours, American stadiums, and a few Stones-adjacent surprises. There’s Bill Wyman producing Tucky Buzzard, Mick Taylor turning up where you might not expect him, Jerry Lee Lewis bringing Mick and Keith into the picture, and You Got Me Rocking arriving as a single in the middle of the Voodoo Lounge era. Then there are the shows: Vienna, Philadelphia, New York, Toronto and St. Louis all get their turn. Apparently, September 26 never got the memo about taking things slowly.

September 26, 1968: Brian attends his trial in London with Mick, Keith and his then girlfriend Suki Poitier after being arrested for marijuana possession in May that year, this time facing a long jail term that finally didn’t take place

September 26, 1971: Release of Tucky Buzzard’s LP Tucky Buzzard, produced by Bill Wyman, with Mick Taylor as guest on two tracks: 1. My Friend/ 2. Whiskey Eyes
Formed around 1969–1970 from the remains of British psychedelic group The End, the band featured Jimmy Henderson, Terry Taylor, David Brown, Nick Graham and drummer Paul Francis, later replaced by Chris Johnson. Bill produced the album at Olympic Studios.

You Got Me Rocking is a hard-driving rocker from the Voodoo Lounge album, released as the second single that September. The song begins life in early 1993 as a slow, bluesy jam before Keith Richards switches from piano to guitar, turning it into an upbeat rocker reminiscent of Start Me Up. Its lyrics portray struggling professionals before the chorus delivers an energetic comeback.

Last Man Standing is Jerry Lee Lewis’ 39th studio album. Recorded primarily at Memphis’ legendary Sun Studio, it features energetic duets with major figures from rock, blues, and country. The title reflects Lewis’ status as the last surviving major artist from Sun’s pioneering 1950s roster.
