Today in Rolling Stones history: April 17
*Click for DAILY ROLLING STONES CHRONOLOGY 1962-present
April 17 traces a surprisingly rich thread through The Rolling Stones’ ever-evolving story, jumping from sweaty UK ballrooms to global stadium domination and even television satire. From early gigs in Coventry and Paris to a historic, bittersweet Athens show marking Brian Jones’ final live performance, the date captures pivotal transitions. Decades later, massive setlists in Auckland and Syracuse reflect a band at full power, while Mick Jagger’ 2006 sitcom cameo adds an unexpected twist. It’s a single date that mirrors the Stones’ restless reinvention across eras, stages, and even screens.

April 17, 2006: Mick shoots scenes for the pilot for an upcoming ABC TV sitcom called The Knights of Prosperity (altough working title was the funny Let’s Rob Mick Jagger)
In 2006 Mick Jagger appeared in the pilot episode of The Knights of Prosperity. The show followed a group of misfits plotting to rob Jagger’s luxurious New York apartment. Jagger played a fictional version of himself showcasing his comedic side and even poking fun at his rockstar image. Although the series had a unique premise and Jagger’s involvement drew a lot of attention, it was short-lived and ended after just one season.
