Today in Rolling Stones history: April 3
*Click for DAILY ROLLING STONES CHRONOLOGY 1962-present
April 3 offers a fascinating snapshot of the The Rolling Stones in motion, tracing their evolution from intimate English venues in the early ’60s to explosive arena dominance decades later. What begins in pubs and dance halls quickly scales into global spectacle, with setlists that mix grit, swagger, and deep cuts. But the date isn’t just about concerts—it also reflects the band’s ever-expanding mythology, from Ronnie Wood revisiting his roots on Live & Eclectic to Keith Richards fueling rock folklore with one of his wildest stories. April 3 captures the Stones not as a fixed legacy, but as an ongoing, unpredictable narrative.

April 3, 2007: Keith Richards denies that he snorted the ashes of his late father Bert. He had said in an interview with the NME that “He was cremated and I couldn’t resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow”. But NME interviewer Mark Beaumont was actually convinced that Richards was not joking when speaking to him about the incident. “He did seem to be quite honest about it. There were too many details for him to be making it up”, he later told BBC news. The snorting of his dad’s ashes remain a mystery, adding to the legend of the Rolling Stones.
