August 19 is one of those dates when The Rolling Stones’ history refuses to behave neatly. From early ballroom gigs in England to massive Voodoo Lounge and Licks Tour stadium shows, the day traces the band’s evolution from hungry young rockers to global road warriors. There’s also plenty of side intrigue: Mick Jagger teams with David Bowie for Dancing in the Street, the Stones embrace the funkier, cheekier Sex Drive, and Keith Richards turns up on a George Jones duet. Then comes the New Barbarians, where Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards resurrect their rock’n’roll chemistry in suitably unruly fashion.

August 19, 1985: Release of the David Bowie and Mick Jagger single Dancing in the Street (7″ and 12″ version)
Jagger and Bowie recorded their energetic version of the 1964 Martha and the Vandellas’ classic Dancing in the Street as an emergency charity single to support the Live Aid campaign, turning the song into one of the most recognizable musical moments of that year.

August 19, 1991: Release of the Sex Drive CD-single (Rolling Stones Records 657334 2), feat. three versions: 1. Sex Drive (Single Edit)/ 2. Sex Drive (Dirty Hands Mix)/ 3. Sex Drive (Club Version)
The Stones rarely played it safe, but Sex Drive pushed their swagger into funkier, more mischievous territory. The track featured Mick Jagger in a playful persona, while its tongue-in-cheek video matched the song’s outrageous premise. Beneath the humor, however, was a tight, James Brown-inspired funk workout.

Burn Your Playhouse Down – The Unreleased Duets is the 60th studio album by American country singer George Jones, released through Bandit Records. The collection brings together archival recordings, outtakes, and newly assembled duets from previously unreleased sessions dating from the mid-1970s through 2006.
