August 31, 1963: Royal Lido Ballroom, Prestatyn, Wales, UK (the Stones’ first concert outside of England ever)
Aug. 31, 1968: Release of the Street Fighting Man / No Expectations 7″ single in the US (London 909)
The single eventually stirred immediate controversy. Its original U.S. picture sleeve—showing police clashing with demonstrators—was deemed too provocative amid political unrest. Fearing backlash, London Records quickly withdrew the cover, making surviving copies extremely rare and highly prized among Stones collectors today.
