December 13, 2012: A collection of love letters written by Mick to American singer Marsha Hunt (original star of hippie counterculture musical Hair, and mother of Mick’s first daughter Karis) sold at auction for $300,000. The letters were penned in the summer of 1969 while Mick was in Australia. They are believed to be the inspiration for Brown Sugar, a connection often mentioned by fans and historians. Their influence reportedly shaped the song’s early themes, adding depth and character to one of the Rolling Stones’ most iconic and controversial tracks.
