Today in Rolling Stones history: January 2
*Click for DAILY ROLLING STONES CHRONOLOGY 1962-present
January 2 traces a fascinating arc through Rolling Stones history, blending ambition, loyalty, and rock’n’roll ritual. In 1964, Andrew Loog Oldham playfully mythologized the band with There Are But Five Rolling Stones, backed by the group and their spiritual anchor, Ian Stewart. By 1965, Bill Wyman was already shaping sounds behind the scenes as a producer. In 1967, Mick Jagger lent his touch to Chris Farlowe, while the Stones gathered for Stu’s wedding—proof that family still mattered. Two decades later, Ronnie Wood’s lavish 1985 wedding embodied rock excess and devotion. Even lawsuits followed, because with the Stones, nothing is ever quiet.
