May 27 feels like one of those oddly perfect dates in The Rolling Stones history where chaos, swagger and reinvention somehow all collide at once. From tearing through Paint It Black and Under My Thumb on Britain’s coolest TV stage to transforming massive venues with marathon sets the band kept rewriting its own mythology every decade. Even rehearsals turned into legendary sessions because apparently normal tour practice was never dramatic enough for the Stones. One date, multiple eras, and the same unstoppable appetite for spectacle, excess and rock’n’roll survival.

May 27, 1966: The Stones appear on Ready Steady Go! (ARTV, UK TV) performing three songs:

May 27, 1978: Ahead of their upcoming US tour the Stones took over Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, New York, for intense rehearsals and loose late-night jams. Keyboard duties shifted from Bernard Harvey to Ian McLagan, while guitarist Tim Moore joined the band for spontaneous sessions and musical experimentation.
