Keith laid down Run Rudolph Run back in 1976, but the track didn’t hit American ears until 1978, when promo copies slipped into radio rotations and press hands. That same year, the Stones were firing on all cylinders—Some Girls dropped, and the band stormed across stages on a whirlwind tour. By early 1979, the UK finally got its retail release, followed later that year by a second U.S. pressing. Japan and other countries soon joined the party, proving once again that Rolling Stones-related releases never followed a neat calendar. Instead Keith’s holiday rocker rolled out like a globe-trotting gift, arriving at different times in different places.
