Today in Rolling Stones history: October 10
*Click for DAILY ROLLING STONES CHRONOLOGY 1962-present
October 10 gives The Rolling Stones timeline a little bit of everything: early British shows, a German concert packed with fan favorites, and stadium-sized rock spectacles on both sides of the Atlantic. But there’s a Ronnie Wood twist, too. In 1975, before officially joining the Stones, Wood releases If You Don’t Want My Love / I Got A Feeling, a solo single that reveals another side of his musical personality, from soulful R&B to funk-driven grooves featuring fellow Faces member Ian McLagan. Add Eric Clapton’s guest appearance in New York in 1989, and this date refuses to behave like ordinary rock history.

October 10, 1975: Release of Ronnie Wood’s 7″ single If You Don’t Want My Love / I Got A Feeling (Warner Brothers WB K 16679)
If You Don’t Want My Love is a soulful blend of R&B and rock, with Bobby Womack’s musical influence running through its sound. Wood takes charge on lead vocals and guitar, backed by an impressive lineup of musicians who give the performance plenty of depth and character. As for I Got A Feeling, it shifts toward a groove-driven approach, mixing rock and funk with the distinctive keyboard work of Ian McLagan, Wood’s fellow Faces bandmate, whose playing adds extra texture and rhythmic punch to the arrangement.
