A Bigger Bang embraces a back-to-basics approach, bringing the Stones back to their blues-rock and rhythm and blues roots eight years after Bridges to Babylon. Its sound is stripped-down Stones: guitars, bass, drums, occasional piano, and Mick Jagger’s unmistakable blues delivery. Most of the 16 tracks feature Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Charlie working closely as the core unit, with Ron Wood and others adding parts later. Themes include R&B grooves, boogie, heartbreak, and political criticism.
