April 18, 2020: The Rolling Stones perform virtually for Global Citizen’s One World: Together at Home rvent

On April 18, 2020, amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Stones joined the lineup of artists for the Global Citizen’s One World: Together at Home virtual concert. The event was organized in collaboration with the World Health Organization to support healthcare workers and raise awareness during the ongoing crisis. For the performance, each band member played separately from their respective homes (Charlie playing air drums) appearing via webcam in a split-screen format. Despite the physical distance, their rendition of their classic You Can’t Always Get What You Want captured the spirit of unity and resilience. The moment became one of the highlights of the globally televised and streamed event, showcasing how music could still bring people together even when the world was apart. It marked a unique and memorable entry in the band’s long performance history. Sadly this was to be Charlie Watts’ last appearance with the band ever.
