April 30, 1965: Memorial Auditorium, Worcester, MA, USA

April 30, 1976: Munsterlandhalle, Münster, West Germany (2 shows)

The Stones hit Münster again during their short but fiery European tour that year. They played at the Münsterlandhalle, and as always, brought the coolest chaos and swagger. The vibe was intense—Mick was in full frontman mode, strutting and shouting, while Keith and Ronnie tore it up on guitars. The band was tight, running through a mix of old favorites and newer tunes from Black and Blue, which had just dropped. It wasn’t the longest tour, but this gig stood out—a sweaty, loud, no-nonsense night that showed the Stones could still tear up any stage they walked onto.

April 30, 1983: Death of Muddy Waters (original name McKinley Morganfield), top blues legend and all-time Stones idol whose song Rollin’ Stone gave the band their name.

Muddy, the legendary bluesman who hugely inspired the Rolling Stones and so many others, passed away on April 30, 1983, at the age of 70. He died peacefully in his sleep from heart failure at his home in Westmont, Illinois. Known for shaping the Chicago blues sound, Muddy was a true pioneer—his raw voice and powerful guitar style laid the groundwork for rock ‘n’ roll. His influence was massive, with artists like the Stones, Hendrix and Clapton all singing his praises. Even into his later years, he kept performing and recording with passion. His death marked the end of an era, but his spirit still lives on in every blues riff and rock anthem out there.

April 30, 1989: Ronnie Wood’s Miami restaurant and nightclub Woody’s on the Beach shuts its doors after a short-lived run. The venue mixed dining, nightlife, and celebrity appeal, aiming to capture some rock-and-roll glamour by the beach. Like many star-owned hotspots, fame alone wasn’t enough to guarantee a lasting business success.

April 30, 1991: Mick Jagger wraps filming for Freejack in Atlanta. The futuristic action film, based on a time-travel premise, stars Emilio Estevez and Anthony Hopkins, with Jagger playing the slick and menacing bounty hunter Victor Vacendak. It marked his first completed movie role since Ned Kelly, filmed back in 1969.

April 30, 2001: Keith Richards joins Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock onstage at the Shine in New York City. Keith plays on Drift Away (w/Kid Rock on lead vocals), Love Hurts, Not Fade Away and Ain’t That a Shame

April 30, 2023: Keith joins Willie Nelson to sing and play at Nelson’s 90th birthday ‘Long Story Short – Willie Nelson 90’ celebration concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Two songs: We Had It All/ Live Forever
